Group Activities & Community Participation
We take the word “community” seriously. Make friends, have fun and learn new skills with others. Junee Community Centre runs a range of community programs, outings and activities at our centre on Lorne Street and out in the community. NDIS participants may be able to take part in suitable activities, depending on eligibility, availability and agreed support arrangements.
Activities you can be part of
Suitable existing Junee Community Centre activities include:
- Community Table
- Community connection outings
- Families First
- Youth Momentum
- Centre activities
- One-off programs and events
These are community programs that participants may attend with appropriate support, rather than a timetable of dedicated NDIS groups. Some programs have age or eligibility requirements.
See what’s on in our monthly calendar for dates, times and locations. You can contact our team to talk about whether an activity suits you, eligibility, availability and any individual support you need.
Why join in?
- Meet people and build friendships
- Learn practical and social skills in a relaxed setting
- Enjoy regular routines and something to look forward to
- Support participants to enjoy activities with others
Where they fit your goals and agreed supports, activities can also be a chance to build practical and social skills.
A welcoming community centre
Junee Community Centre has been a meeting place for the local community since 1988. Our programs are run by friendly, experienced staff who make sure everyone feels included and supported. We may develop further groups over time, based on participant interest.
Support and costs
Disability-related assistance to participate in community activities may be funded through your NDIS plan. The appropriate funding depends on the support provided and your plan. We’ll discuss support arrangements and charges with you beforehand.
Ordinary activity expenses, such as meals, admission fees and memberships, are generally paid by the participant. We’ll explain these separately from any disability-related support charges before you book.
Any applicable worker travel or participant transport charges will be explained and agreed before services begin, in accordance with relevant NDIS requirements.
Who can join
NDIS participants from Junee, Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Temora, Cootamundra and Gundagai are welcome to contact us. Help getting to activities may be available by prior arrangement, depending on your needs, funding, and the availability of our workers and vehicles.
