Community Access & Social Participation
Getting out and being part of your community makes a real difference. Junee Community Centre’s NDIS community access support helps you get out, try new things, build friendships and take part in the activities you enjoy, with a local support worker by your side.
Our team can assist with...
- One-on-one support to get out and about in your community
- Support to attend local events, clubs, sport, church or volunteering
- Shopping, banking, cafés and errands
- Visiting friends and family
- Taking part in suitable Junee Community Centre programs and community events
Activities you can be part of
With the right support, participants may be able to attend suitable Junee Community Centre and community activities, such as Community Table, community connection outings, Families First, Youth Momentum, selected centre activities and one-off programs or events. These are existing community programs that participants can join with appropriate support, rather than dedicated NDIS programs.
Whether an activity suits you will depend on its age and eligibility requirements, your interests and support needs, and availability. See what’s on in our monthly calendar.
Any support you need and help getting to and from activities will be discussed and agreed with you beforehand.
Ordinary activity expenses, such as meals, admission fees and memberships, are generally paid by the participant. We’ll explain these separately from any disability-related support charges before you book.
Built around your goals
Whether you want to make new friends, explore a new interest or feel more confident going out on your own, we’ll help you set goals and work towards them at your own pace.
Connected to the Riverina
Junee Community Centre has been bringing people together since 1988. We’ll help you explore suitable activities, groups and opportunities in your local community, based on your interests and goals.
Need support at short notice?
We welcome short-notice and same-day support requests. We’ll check worker availability, the location and the support required, then confirm whether we can assist. This includes participants, support coordinators and other NDIS providers needing temporary cover.
Same-day support cannot be guaranteed. For short-notice requests, call 02 6924 2666 during office hours.
Funding your support
Disability-related assistance to participate in community activities may be funded through your NDIS plan. The appropriate funding depends on the support provided and your plan. We’ll discuss support arrangements and charges with you beforehand.
Any applicable worker travel or participant transport charges will be explained and agreed before services begin, in accordance with relevant NDIS requirements.
Where we provide community access
We support participants in Junee, Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Temora, Cootamundra and Gundagai.
